Celebration of Life Memorial Service: Thursday, April 24, 2014 - 11 a.m. at the Rome City United Methodist Church

Calling: Wednesday, April 23, 2014 - 4 to 8 p.m. at the church
Mary E. Strawser, 83, of Wolcottville died Monday, April 21, 2014, at 4:42 a.m. in her residence.

She was a lifetime area resident.

Mrs. Strawser worked at No-Sag in Kendallville. She also worked at Sacred Heart Home in Avilla and Miller's Merry Manor in LaGrange.

She was born September 7, 1930, in DeKalb County to Monroe and Irene (DeLong) Butler.

On February 26, 1950, in Salem Center she married Herman Lee Strawser. He preceded her in death in 1984.

Surviving are three daughters, Vicki (Jim) Craig of Wolcottville, Toni Mast of Rome City, and Peggy (Butch) Brown of Wolcottville; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Joan Butler of Angola, Ruth Butler of South Bend, and Violet Butler of Springfield, Ohio; and a brother-in-law, Dean Norman of Hudson.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be Thursday, April 24, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the Rome City United Methodist Church. 297 Washington Street, Rome City with Pastor Kevin Brower and Pastor Mike Antal officiating. Burial will be in Block Cemetery in Salem Center at a later date.

Calling is Wednesday, April 23, 2014, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church.

Preferred memorials are to the Rome City United Methodist Church.

Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville is assisting the family with arrangements.
