Shirley Dennis, age 81 of Wolcottville, IN, passed away November 02, 2013 at her home.

She was born on December 23, 1931, in Cleveland, Ohio to Charles and Margaret (Lee) Gill. On October 06, 1951, Shirley married William Edward Dennis. They were married 25 years, until his death in 1976.

Shirley was a homemaker who also enjoyed helping others through donating food, working at church functions and making small teddy bears that were given away to churches, sheriff’s departments and fire departments.

As an active member of the Wolcottville United Methodist Church and past member of Rome City United Methodist Church, Shirley enjoyed singing in the choir and occasionally was a soloist at both churches.

Surviving are two daughters, Renee L. (Dale) Keener of Austinburg, OH, and Karen A. Dennis of Wolcottville; a son, Gary R. (Lois) Dennis of Fort Wayne; two grandchildren, Shane Housholder and Dawn Housholder; and five great-grandchildren, Jade Housholder, Quincy Housholder, Cree Housholder, Peyton Housholder, and Kennedy Rose Housholder.

Funeral services will be Friday, November 8, 2013, at 12 noon in the Wolcottville United Methodist Church in Wolcottville with Rev. Jack Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Wolcottville.

Visitation will be Friday, November 8, 2013, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon in the church.

In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorial contributions be made to the Clothes and Food Basket of LaGrange County, Inc.

Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville is assisting the family with arrangements.
