Betty J. Arnold, 83, of Rome City died Tuesday, August 14, 2007, at 12:16 p.m. in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. She was a lifetime area resident. She had been employed by Berhalter-Hutchins Funeral Home in Kendallville for many years and also worked at Fischer's Pharmacy in Kendallville. She was a member of the Brimfield United Methodist Church and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 381 in Rome City. She loved her grandchildren, cooking, and living on Sylvan Lake. She was born November 15, 1923, to Paul "Jake" & Dora May (Pierson) Rowlison. She was married May 19, 1944, in Mountain Home, Idaho, to Homer Arnold. He preceded her in death on May 21, 1979. Surviving are two sons and daughter-in-law, Sam & Myrna Arnold of Brimfield and Jack & Mary Arnold of Rome City; five grandchildren, Chad P. Arnold of Brimfield, Brice R. Arnold of Brimfield, Shelly VanGorder of Avilla; James Lee Arnold of Muncie, and Jason Arnold of South Whitley; 12 Great Grandchildren, Alexander Arnold. Miranda Arnold, Jared Arnold, Audrey Grove, Derek Grove, Ricky Duty, Amanda Duty, Jake VanGorder, Jessica Arnold, Dylan Arnold, Trey Arnold, and Haylee Arnold; one brother and sister-in-law, Jay & Donnabelle Rowlison of Kendallville; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Cora & Willis Tuttle of Auburn, Catherine Kaufman of Angola, and Joan Hueling of Mishawaka. She was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Rowlison; and four sisters, Geraldine Leonhardt, Pauline Rowlison, Donna Jean Rowlison and Nancy Kay Rowlison. Services will be Friday, August 17, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at the Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel with Rev. Omer Nisley officiating. Casketbearers will be Chad Arnold, Brice Arnold, James Arnold, Ricky Duty, David VanGorder, and Jason Arnold. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery, Kendallville. Visitation is Thursday, August 16, 2007, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to the Brimfield United Methodist Church, Rome City Fire Department, Brimfield Lions Club, Kidney Association or the American Heart Association.
