M. Gene Mynhier

Gene Mynhier, 79, of Wolcottville died unexpectedly Friday, January 28, 2011, at his residence.
Mr. Mynhier was a lifetime area resident. He graduated from Wolcottville High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955, during the Korean War. He was a farmer and a carpenter. He was also the building inspector for LaGrange County for 13 years.
He was a member of the Wolcottville United Methodist Church, where he served as Trustee for many years and was a member of the Methodist Men's Club.
He was an avid woodworker and enjoyed going to auctions.
He was born February 3, 1931, in Wolcottville to Charles Earl and Lois LaRue (Lampman) Mynhier. On October 16, 1954, in Wawaka he married Gloria Oesch.
Surviving are his wife, Gloria Mynhier of Wolcottville; a daughter, Cathy Mynhier of Wolcottville; two grandchildren, Cory and Amy Norris of Wolcottville and Nikki Norris and her friend, Jeremy Walters of Kendallville; a great granddaughter, Ava Noelle Norris; two sisters, Lorraine Parker of Kendallville and Roberta Ober of Albion; and a brother, Robert Mynhier of Wolcottville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leonard Mynhier.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 1, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. in the Wolcottville United Methodist Church with Rev. Jack Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Wolcottville.
Calling is Monday, January 31, 2011, from 2 to 4 and 6 t0 8 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
Preferred memorials are to the Wolcottville United Methodist Church or to the American Heart Association.
