Rose A. Devereau

Rose Anne Devereau, 55, of South Bend and formerly of Garrett died Wednesday, July 7, 2010, in Hospice House of St. Joseph County, South Bend, Indiana, with her family at her side.
Mrs. Devereau had lived in South Bend since 1986, coming from Garrett. She had worked for Red Lobster in Mishawaka for 25 years. She was a member of the Catholic Church.
Rose loved her family, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and her many friends.
Rose was born November 3, 1954, in Garrett to Garnel “Tom” Handshoe, Sr. and Patricia (Trowbridge) Handshoe. On August 25, 2001, in South Bend she married Richard J. “Rick” Devereau. He survives.
Also surviving are her mother and step father, Patricia and Bill Engle of Kendallville; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Garnel Handshoe, Jr. and Michelle Handshoe of Garrett and George A. Brumbaugh, II of Garrett; a sister and brother-in-law, Catherine (Brumbaugh) and Eric Keck of Kendallville; and two half brothers, Marshall and Linda Brumbaugh of Garrett and Jeffrey Brumbaugh of Kendallville.
She was preceded in death by her father; a sister, Christina K. (Handshoe) See; her paternal grandparents, Crit and Maggie Handshoe; and her maternal grandparents, Jack and Thelma Trowbridge.
Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 301 East Diamond Street, Kendallville, with Fr. James Stoyle officiating. Burial will be in Sweet Cemetery near Albion.
Calling will be Tuesday, July 13, 2010, from 4 to 8 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville, where there will be a vigil for the deceased at 7 p.m.
