Obituary

Mark Dempsey “Demp” Ritchie, 80, of Rome City died Sunday, November 8, 2020, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.

He was born November 9, 1939, in Hindman, Kentucky, to Orlando and Vina (Sutton) Ritchie.

On February 27, 1970, he married Lillis E. Skaggs.

Mr. Ritchie retired from the Norfolk Southern Railroad where he was a supervisor of heavy equipment.

Demp enjoyed camping and traveling. He dearly loved gospel music.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Lillis Ritchie of Rome City; four daughters, Brenda Hubler of Fort Wayne, Judy (Eddie) Starrett of LaGrange, Patricia (Ben) Randall of Kendallville, and Teresa Tomblin of Goshen; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters.

Funeral services will be Friday, November 13, 2020, at 1 p.m. at Liberty Free Will Baptist Church, 2900 E 1150 N-57, Wolcottville with Pastor Billy Fields and Pastor Wade Sturdivant officiating. Burial will follow at Orange Cemetery near Rome City.

Honorary pallbearers are Michael Terrill, Christopher Starrett, and Marvin Antonides. Active pallbearers are Hank Jones, Wendall Terrill, Gary Terrill, EJ Starrett, Matthew Hubler, and Jason Hubler.

Visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church.

Per the Governor of Indiana, face masks are required.

Preferred memorials are to the donor’s choice.

Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville is assisting the family with arrangements.

What a special person, he will be greatly missed. Always enjoyed going camping with them.. I loved to hear him play his guitar and sing. .,Demp always made me laugh. Prayers for the family
