Evelyn Michelle “Shelly” (Mowery) Baker, 53, of Kendallville died Saturday, June 29, 2019, at 6:20 a.m. at Parkview LaGrange Hospital in LaGrange.

She was born May 2, 1966, in Kendallville to Eugene Manford and Dorothy Ann (Powell) Mowery.

She was a lifetime area resident and a homemaker.

Shelly was first and foremost a Christian and loved going to church. She enjoyed watching CSI, being outside, and helping at the New Hope Club House. Being full of life right to the very end, Shelly was an awesome and amazing person. She enjoyed people and caring for others.

Surviving are two daughters, Brandi (Bill) Blankenbeckler of Kendallville and Cree (David Elam) Baker of Winchester, Kentucky; a son, Brian (Stephanie) Stevens of Key West, Florida; four grandchildren, Helena Stevens, Brian Stevens, Jr., Natalie Blankenbeckler, and Remy Blankenbeckler; and her significant other, Steve Kilburn of Kendallville.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Brian Eugene Mowery.

A celebration of life service will be Saturday, July 6, 2019, at 4 p.m. at New Life Tabernacle, 609 Patty Lane, Kendallville with the Reverend John Stevens officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 6, 2019, from 3 to 4 p.m. at the church.

Preferred memorials are to the family to assist with funeral expenses.

Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is assisting the family with arrangements.
