Mr. Farren honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1975 to 1979.

Upon returning from the Marine Corps, he was the Deputy Marshall for Rome City and later retired from the Kendallville Police Department. He started working at Impact Institute in Kendallville and took a year off to work for DynCorp International in Afghanistan. Currently, he was the criminal justice instructor at Impact Institute in Kendallville.

Mark enjoyed riding his Harley, and, it was because of his love of bike trips that he and his wife bought a home in Yaak, Montana, where he spent his time this summer. He also enjoyed camping. Mark was known for making the best chili and salsa ever made. And, he loved to share those foods with his class at Impact Institute.

Loved our conversations we had together about all subjects and especially your travels and adventures. You definitely loved life and serving your fellow man with your military service police service and your time spent at Impact. Mark loved his Harley and loved to travel . Loved looking at all your photos of the neat places you've been and recently Yaak ! You've lived a lifetime to the fullest. You'll be missed ! My prayers go out to your family and friends .

To Elaina and all of Marks family I am so sorry for you loss. From everything that I know and have heard about Mark he will truely be missed. He was a true patriot, a great servant to his community as a police officer and a teacher. In everything that he did he touched lives. I could see his passion for law enforcement back in high school when we attended the Indiana State Police Career Camp together. May you take comfort in knowing that Mark was s great example of what a man should be. You will be missed, RIP Brother

Pork Chop, I am still in disbelief of your passing. All I keep thinking of are the thousands of miles I spent looking through my windshield at the tail light on your motorcycle, or your headlight in the mirror of mine. I am so glad we were able to make the Alaska trip a reality, but wish we had more time to make the return trip we always talked about. Maybe I'll just do it for both of us. Rest in peace brother.

I was so saddened and shocked to hear of Mark's passing. He was such a good dual credit teacher and an even kinder, generous man. He'll be missed by many.

Mark... You were such a BIG part of my teaching life, my teaching day here at IMPACT. Whether you came into work or I did, there was never a morning that we didn't say "Morning"... You influenced so many over the years, and the knowledge of the criminal justice will live on in them. I will so miss, " Welcome to Walmart" as we held the doors for the incoming students. To the " Stay out of Jail" as they left on Friday afternoons. Your stories I could hear from my classroom of your time undercover, over in Afghanistan and so many more. The song to the TV show COPS, (Bad boys, bad boys...) as tours were entering your class for tours will now bring a smile to my face. Elaine... Please know Mark loved you to the moon and back and then some. He said your name and his face would light up. The stories of how you were high school sweethearts and the time he bought you a blender and the photo he had of that time is one I will never forget. He talked so much of your time in Yaak, the things you experienced out there. I hope it brings you comfort to know he truly loved you. Mark, you will be missed and NEVER forgotten. xoxo

Oh Elaine my heart goes out to you. Mark will be missed in our Wild Sheep neighborhood. I loved Mark's excitement about the house and even the hard work he was doing. I will always remember how happy he was riding his motorcycle to the hardware store. My heart is hurting with his loss but I know he has a place in the Yaak section of heaven and we will meet again. May God bless you Elaine with peace and a knowledge of Mark waiting for you in heaven.
