Ricky D. Pratt, 66, of Kendallville died Tuesday, January 31, 2017, in Parkview Hospital Randallia in Fort Wayne.

He was born June 12, 1950, in Fort Wayne to Leroy and LeAnnah (Tassler) Pratt. They preceded him in death.

On June 9, 1985, in Kendallville he married Kyle Colleen Derby, his sweetheart, baby doll, love of his life, woman of his dreams, blah, blah, blah, yada, yada, yada. She survives in Kendallville.

Mr. Pratt was a mechanic and the owner and operator of Rick’s Truck Service in Kendallville. He had previously worked at the B & S Truck Stop and Group Dekko RAD Trucking.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Kendallville.

Rick enjoyed working on vehicles, attending car shows, working, classic vehicles, and working. He had a wide variety of knowledge and was current on politics. He enjoyed sharing his what-cha-ma-call-it and thing-a-ma-jigs. And, he expected you to know what he was talking about when he said it. He was respected and loved by his family and close friends, was generous, helping, wise, humble, and a teacher to all.

Also surviving are a son, Josh Pratt of Kendallville; three brothers, Leroy “Chuck” Pratt of Columbia City, John (Debbie) Pratt of Orland, and Karl (Cheryl) Pratt of New Richland, Minnesota; a brother from another mother, Randy (Beverly) Marker of Albion; two sisters-in-law, Robbin Derby of Kendallville and Kristan (John) Nicodemus of Churubusco; a brother-in-law, Scott (Debbie) Derby of Kendallville; four nieces, Shannon Pratt, Kassidee Nicodemus, Kristine Pfeiffer, and April (Todd) McClurg; eight nephews, Greg (Kathy) Pratt, Tyler (Morgan) Derby, Trevor Derby, Justin (Chelsey) Nicodemus, Jordan (Holly Haupricht) Nicodemus, Jason (Alexandra Hatton) Nicodemus, Adam (Erin) Brady, and Nick Reeves; six great-nieces; and seven great-nephews.

Funeral services will be Sunday, February 5, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Pastor Dennis Beckner of the Columbia City Church of the Brethren officiating.

Calling is Saturday, February 4, 2017, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

You are in my thoughts and prayers. The poem you wrote is beautiful in its simplest, spoken from the heart. You two made a perfect couple and you will be a perfect couple again. Beautiful, funny, good memories will see you through these tough times, and give a chuckle with time. God be with you.

Kyle and Josh, I am so very sorry for your loss. I love the humor in the obit! That old truck you had sitting out there brought back some memories of the old B&S... and Rick's sarcastic humor and good heart.

Kyle, you have our deepest sympathies. A very true statement of Ricky about the thing-a-ma-jigs and the what-cha-ma call-its. He used those sayings all the time at Rad Trucking. He will be missed by all.
