Walter Lee Buss, 86, of Ligonier died Wednesday, January 25, 2017, in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.

He was born June 19, 1930, in Wolcottville to Marion Harold and Gerveice M. (Gault) Buss.

On April 15, 1968, in Brimfield he married Edith E. “Edie” Fordyce.

Mr. Buss served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He retired after 32 years from Monsanto in Ligonier where he worked in maintenance.

He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Albion and the Starcraft Camper Club.

Surviving are a daughter, Lori D. Fontenot of Prairieville, Louisiana; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Roger A. Buss of Kendallville and Jeffrey L. and Tina Buss of Auburn; a stepdaughter, Sue Ann Birch of Angola; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marion H. Buss; his mother, Gerveice M. Canfield; his wife, Edith E. “Edie” Buss; a sister, Shirley Knowles; and two brothers, Hubert R. Buss and James Buss.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville with Rev. Carldean Merrifield officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Wolcottville.

Honor guard services will be provided by Rome City American Legion Post 381, Kendallville VFW Post 2749, and Kendallville American Legion Post 86.

Visitation is Tuesday, January 31, 2017, from 12 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
