He moved to this area as a young child, coming from Kentucky.

Mr. Smith retired from Curto Foundry in Ligonier.

He was a member of Harbor of Love Baptist Church in Kendallville.

Billy was an amazing and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved nothing more than being with his family. He will be remembered for his kind heart and ornery sense of humor, but most of all, for the love he had for his children and grandchildren. He will be missed by everyone who was blessed to have known him.

He was born February 15, 1943, in Knott County, Kentucky, to Drew and Goldie (Moore) Smith.

On September 23, 1961, in Lisbon he married Racine Wicker. She preceded him in death on February 12, 2008. He then married Alice (Sells) Hall on November 29, 2010, in Kendallville. She survives in Albion.

Also surviving are two daughters, Stacey (Rick) Gavin of Kendallville and Selena (Dan) Hasselman of Albion; three sons, Billy David (Sharon) Smith of Kendallville, Mark (Teresa) Smith of Albion, and Jason (Heather) Smith of Albion; five stepchildren, Tina (Steve) Potter of Georgetown, Kentucky, Randall (Shannon) Hall of Owenton, Kentucky, Jimmy (Shelly) Hall of Frankfort, Kentucky, Timothy Hall of Frankfort, Kentucky, and Carolyn Wilson of Georgetown, Kentucky; 26 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Charlotte Smith of Kendallville, Donna (Dean) Ramer of Kendallville, Betty Bostick of Lexington, Kentucky, and Maxine (Ross) Handshoe of Kendallville.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Judy Moore; and a granddaughter, Tonya Smith.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at 1 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Pastor Clarence Combs and Pastor Phillip Lucas officiating. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery, Rome City.

Pallbearers will be Shaw Smith, Chandler Smith, Kayden Smith, Andrew Smith, Matthew Smith, Brandon Smith, Gage Potter, and Jacob Wilson.
