Zula M. Fiandt, 91, of Blackman Lake, Wolcottville, Indiana died Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Betz Nursing Home in Auburn.

She was born March 26, 1935, in Kendallville to William Arthur “Art” and Bertha Ella (Leitch) Davis.

She graduated from Kendallville High School in 1952 and then attended Warner Beauty College in Fort Wayne.

On April 5, 1953, in Kendallville she married David J. Fiandt. He preceded her in death on May 8, 2025.

In 1957, the couple moved to Rome City where Zula owned and operated a beauty shop for 43 years. They then moved to Blackman Lake where she continued with her beauty shop for several more years. She also received her real estate license and independent broker license and was a realtor for Grady Real Estate in Kendallville.

Zula was a member of the Wolcottville United Methodist Church, Rome City American Legion Post 381 Auxiliary where she served as President, Kendallville VFW Post 2749 Auxiliary where she served as President, Kendallville Elks Lodge 1194 Lady Elks, Kendallville Fraternal Order of Eagles 985 where she served as President, and Lady Golden Eagles.

Mrs. Fiandt participated in bowling for 60 years in Kendallville and served as Secretary of the Kendallville Women’s Bowling Association where she was Secretary of the Year. After a tornado struck Kendallville and destroyed the bowling alley, she bowled in LaGrange and Albion. When Kendallville Bowl opened, she bowled in the All Star League and was named Bowler of the Year in Kendallville. Zula attended state, city, and some national bowling tournaments through the years.

Zula also enjoyed working with wooden projects, crocheting, and various other crafts.

Surviving are a daughter, Michelle (Dean) Gillespie of Kendallville; a daughter-in-law, Carla Fiandt of Albion; four grandchildren, Kerri (Micky) Stewart, Melissa Fiandt, David M. (Jamie) Fiandt, and Doug (Teresa) Gillespie; eight great-grandchildren, Bobby (Anna) Blum, Madison Blum, Logan Bidwell, Gavin Gillespie, Gage Gillespie, Talon Fiandt, Jaxson Fiandt, and Maximus Shaffer; a great great-granddaughter, Honey Lynn Blum; a sister, Judy Edgar of Fort Wayne; and a sister-in-law, Chris Davis of Kendallville.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Mitch Fiandt on November 23, 2024; a sister, Rosalie Todd; and three brothers, Harold “Gabby” Davis, Richard “Dick” Davis, and Bill Davis.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville.

Funeral services will also be Thursday at 12 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Regan Ford officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Wolcottville.

Pallbearers are Micky Stewart, Logan Bidwell, David Fiandt, Talon Fiandt, Bobby Blum, Doug Gillespie, Gavin Gillespie, Gage Gillespie, Jaxson Fiandt, and Maximus Shaffer.

Preferred memorials are to the American Heart Association or donor’s choice.
