Calling: Tuesday, July 30, 2013 - 1 to 3 p.m. in the funeral home ******************************************************************* Zelda Jane Sprandel, 101, of Kendallville died Thursday, July 25, 2013, at 9:26 p.m. in Lutheran Life Villages, Kendallville.

She moved to this area in 1920, coming from Delaware where she had lived for two years. She moved to Lutheran Life Villages in March, 2006.

She worked at McCray Refrigeration in Kendallville for 17 years. She then became Secretary to the Administrator of McCray Memorial Hospital in Kendallville, retiring in 1976.

Mrs. Sprandel was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Kendallville, where she served as an elder and deacon. She was a member of the Covenant Geneva Circle and the McCray Memorial Hospital Guild Auxiliary.

She was born September 9, 1911, in Pocahontas County, West Virginia, to George L. and Eutokie A. (Hull) Hannah. On November 7, 1943, in Kendallville she married Reinhold G. Sprandel. He preceded her in death on June 23, 1970.

Surviving are friends and caretakers, Lois and Wayne Diehm of Kendallville, and Judy McKinley of Kendallville.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Inez Crothers.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at 3 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville. Rev. Jordy Truman of the First Presbyterian Church in Kendallville will be officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.

Calling is Tuesday, July 30, 2013, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the funeral home.
