William Jay "Bill" Studebaker, 73, of Kendallville, Indiana died Thursday, February 2, 2023, at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville.

He was born February 3, 1949, in South Bend to Vernon Dale and Carol May (Fields) Studebaker.

In March, 1991, he married Joan Clare Gourley. She preceded him in death on January 28, 2016.

Bill had worked as a Quality Control Inspector with Busche.

He was a member of the Kendallville Elks Lodge #1194.

He enjoyed golfing, being outdoors, campfires, playing pool and karaoke. He loved listening to his "buddy" Ken Gibson sing. Bill also enjoyed acting in several productions with the Gaslight Theatre in Kendallville.

Surviving are a daughter, Tina Collett of LaOtto; a son, Michael (Angela) Studebaker of Goshen; a stepdaughter, Samantha (Billy) Griffin of Syracuse; a stepson, Justin Smith serving with the U.S. Army in Rhode Island; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary (Doug) Scheiber of Wawaka; two brothers, Donald (Penny) Studebaker of Aiken, South Carolina and John Studebaker of Kendallville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; and a son-in-law, Brian Collett.

Memorial services will be Thursday, February 9, 2023, at 7 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Pastor Austin Gilliland of New Life Tabernacle in Kendallville officiating.

Visitation will also be on Thursday beginning at 4 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to the family for funeral expenses.
