Obituary

Wesley Sherman "Wes" Hicks, 18, of Wawaka died Wednesday, March 16, 2016, in the emergency room at Parkview Noble Hospital, Kendallville.

He was a 2015 graduate of West Noble High School and was currently attending college at Ivy Tech studying computer science.

He was employed with TI Automotive, formerly Millennium in Ligonier for the past eight months.

Wes was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Ligonier. He was a Boy Scout and a member of Friends and Family Karate in Auburn. He enjoyed playing the guitar and piano.

He was born June 5, 1997, in Warsaw to Clyde Sherman and Melinda Ann "Mindy" (Sorg) Hicks. They survive in Wawaka.

Also surviving are a brother, Larry Hicks of Wawaka; paternal grandparents, Larry and Loretta Collins of Brimfield; four aunts, Inez DePew of Albion, Jan (Levi) Kauffman of Wolcottville, Andrea Kelly of LaGrange, and Crystal (Tom) Collins of Kendallville; and two uncles, Travis Hicks of Warsaw and Clyde Marrs, Jr. of Tazewell, Virginia.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew Hicks; maternal grandparents, Eugene and Dianne Sorg; and two cousins, Tommy Collins and Tracy Campbell.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 21, 2016, at 11 a.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Pastor Harold Heaton of Bible Baptist Church in Ligonier officiating. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery, Rome City.

Pallbearers will be Travis Hicks, Bill Woody, Ryan Kauffman, Shane Campbell, Glen Borders, Jr., and Mike Murphy.

Calling is Sunday, March 20, 2016, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Preferred memorials are to the family for funeral expenses.
