Walter L. Schumm, 80, of Brimfield, Indiana died unexpectedly, Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at his residence.

He was born April 30, 1945, in Kent, Ohio to Walter Jennings and Dorothy (Brown) Schumm.

Walter honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He had worked at Magnavox in Fort Wayne.

Walter loved fishing, having formerly lived on Jones Lake near Rome City. He also enjoyed going to VFW Post 2749 in Kendallville every morning for breakfast.

Surviving are a daughter, Tamara Folkner of Fort Wayne; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Diane Schumm of Fort Wayne; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, John Schumm of Kent, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his companion, Shirley Henderson; a son, David Schumm; a son-in-law, George Folkner; and a sister, Margie Schumm.

There will be no visitation or funeral services.
