Wally Hubert Smith, 79, of Kendallville died Tuesday, February 08, 2011, at 10 a.m. at the residence of his friend, Rosemarie Lloyd in Kendallville.

Mr. Smith, a lifetime area resident, graduated from Kendallville High School in 1950. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. for four years, serving during the Korean War. He also served with the Air Force for 15 years, and was in the Army Reserves for 15 years.

He retired in April, 1996, after 28 years from No-Sag in Kendallville. He was a life member of the VFW Post 2749 and American Legion Post 86. He was also a member of the Kendallville Moose Lodge and Past President and member of the Kendallville Eagles Lodge.

He was born April 14, 1931, in Kendallville to William H. and Lena (Lung) Smith.

Surviving are three sons, Dennis Smith of Kendallville, David Smith of Kendallville, and Rory Smith of Auburn; four daughters, Sheila Musser of Wolcottville, Mary Ann Ridenour of Rome City, Rosemary Shaffer of Kendallville, and Rowena Osborn of Nevada; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a friend, Rosemarie Lloyd of Kendallville.

Funeral services will be Thursday, February 10, 2011, at 2 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville, with Chaplain Ken Weaver officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery, Kendallville.

Honor guard services will be provided by VFW Post 2749, American Legion Post 381, and active members of the U.S. Army.

Calling is Thursday, February 10, 2011, from noon to 2 p.m. in the funeral home.
