Obituary

Virginia F. "Granny" Ramey, 80, of Wolcottville died at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2007, at her residence.

She had lived in this area since 1964, coming from West Virginia. She was a homemaker, and was affectionately known as Granny to all.

She was born September 22, 1927, in West Virginia to Troy & Bessie D. (Rowe) Sturgill. She married John Ramey on August 5, 1977, in Wolcottville.

Surviving are her husband, John Ramey of Wolcottville; three daughters and a son-in-law, Patricia Gail Wade of Kendallville. Pamela & Jeff Bloomfield of Topeka, and Thelma Ramey of Wolcottville; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert Willis Hicks of Wolcottville, Dewey Hicks of Mt. Holley, North Carolina, Mills & Connie Hicks of Tazewell, Virginia, and Ray & Ruby Ramey of Rome City; 26 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; three brothers, Joel Sturgill of Paynesville, Ohio, Ed Sturgill of Ashtabula, Ohio, and Jonathon Sturgill of Las Vegas, Nevada; and one sister, Joann Rich, Ashtabula, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Cathy Ramey, her parents, two sisters, four brothers, and four grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday, December 1, 2007, at 1 p.m. at the Church of the Stone, Wolcottville, with Pastor Mike Stanley officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, LaGrange. Casketbearers will be Daniel Reinbold, Christopher Smith, Ed Wade, Nate Hicks, Tim Wade, Rob Hicks, Kevin Hicks, Brett Hicks, and Danny Ramey.

Visitation will be Friday, November 30, 2007, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville, and Saturday, December 1, 2007, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Church of the Stone.
