Calling: Wednesday, January 15, 2014 - 3 to 7 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel. Rosary service at 7 p.m. Calling also one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. *************************************************************************************** Virgil J. Jordan, 95, of Wolcottville died Monday, January 13, 2014, at 4:40 p.m. in Miller's Merry Manor, LaGrange.
He had resided in Wolcottville for over 50 years.
Mr. Jordan retired from Starcraft in Topeka and had formerly worked at Formed Tubes in Sturgis, Michigan.
He was born November 10, 1918, in Fort Wayne to Lewis F. and Elsie M. (Smith) Jordan.
On July 13, 1940, in Sturgis, Michigan, he married Mary A. Wilcox. She preceded him in death on December 21, 2004.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy (Max) Cleveland of LaGrange and Donna (Laban) Beers of Wolcottville; three sons, Donald J. (Rosalie) Jordan of LaGrange, Terry Jordan of Wolcottville, and Rick (Lisa) Jordan of Orland; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren.; and five great great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Jordan; a granddaughter, Amber Green; two sisters, Evelyn Bowser and Betty Lung; and four brothers, Carl Jordan, Earl Jordan, Cecil Jordan, and Richard Jordan.
Funeral services will be Thursday, January 16, 2014, at 11 a.m. in St. Gaspar Catholic Church, Rome City with Father Jim Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Wolcottville.
Calling is Wednesday, January 15, 2014, from 3 to 7 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville where there will be a Rosary service at 7 p.m. Calling is also one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Preferred memorials are to St. Gaspar Catholic Church.
