Virgil R. Fannin, 75, of Kendallville died Saturday, August 22, 2009, at 12:30 p.m. in his residence.

Mr. Fannin lived in Kendallville since 1955, coming from Kentucky. He had worked at Lane Foundry in Lisbon for 33 years and Tenneco Manufacturing in Ligonier for 12 years. He attended the Independent Full Gospel Church in Ashley.

Virgil loved his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, his wife, family, and friends. He was always delighted to see his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed talking and joking with them. He loved to read and was a writer of poetry and songs. He loved attending Sunday School and church. He was well loved.

He was born June 3, 1934, in Drift, Kentucky, to James Edgar and Florence (Smith) Fannin. On February 1, 1956, in Kendallville he married Wanda Hunter.

Surviving are his wife, Wanda Fannin of Kendallville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and James Parks of Avilla and Angela and Pat Rudolph of Kendallville; ten grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and a brother, Irvin Fannin of Flagstaff, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Sandra Warrix in February, 2006, and Connie Slone in July, 2006, three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 26, 2009, at 1 p.m. in the Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Pastor Sam Weimer officiating. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery near Rome City.

His pallbearers are sons-in-law, Pat Rudolph and Jim Parks, grandsons, Joel Parts and Chad Rudolph, and nephew, Bill R. Ousley.

Preferred memorials are to the Independent Full Gospel Church in Ashley.

Calling is Tuesday, August 25, 2009, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and also Wednesday, August 26, 2009, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
