Victor L. "Vic" Nantz, 83, of Rome City died Friday, July 20, 2018, at 9:50 p.m. at Lutheran Life Villages in Kendallville.
He was born July 10, 1935, in New Castle to Leslie and Ruth (Benn) Nantz.
He was a four-star athlete in high school. He honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956.
On August 4, 1957, in Hamilton he married Roberta "Bobbie" Hanes.
He had lived in this area since 1971, coming from New Castle.
Mr. Nantz worked in the banking industry in Fort Wayne and Noble County.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Kendallville, Rome City American Legion Post 381, past president and member of the Rome City Lions Club, a 50-year member of the Kendallville Masonic Lodge 276, a lifetime member of the NRA, and served on the East Noble School Board for eight years.
Vic loved to play golf. He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, New York Yankees, and Notre Dame football. He also enjoyed going to White Castle and treating his family and friends.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Bobbie Nantz of Rome City; two daughters, Kelly (Virgil) Jackson of Rome City and Kerry (Christopher) Frymier of Racine, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Christopher Frymier, Jr., Kurtis (Monica) Frymier, Keaton (Heather) Frymier, and Conner Frymier; two great-grandchildren, Easton Nantz Frymier and Eleanor Jo Frymier; and a brother, David (Kathy) Nantz of New Castle.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 26, 2018, at noon at the First Christian Church, 110 West Waits Road, Kendallville with the Rev. Robert Farmer and the Rev. Mike DiSanto officiating.
Calling is Thursday, July 26, 2018, from 10 a.m. to noon at the church.
Preferred memorials are to East Noble High School Athletic Department for their sports programs.
Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is assisting the family with arrangements.
