Obituary

Verna Mae Gibson, 69, of Ligonier and formerly of The Lamplighter in Kendallville died Monday, June 6, 2011, in Avalon Village in Ligonier.

Mrs. Gibson moved to this area in 1950 from Kentucky. She had worked at Essex and Monsanto, both in Ligonier.

She was born April 1, 1942, in Bolen, Kentucky, to Carew and Margaret Gibson.

Surviving are three sisters, Ellen Conley of Kendallville, Deanna McClelland of Kendallville, and Barbara (Homer) Ferrell of Kendallville; three brothers, Roy Gibson of Kendallville, Arnold Gibson of Kendallville, and Talbert Gibson of Kendallville; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Virginia Gibson and Ollie Heileman; and three brothers, Arnold Gibson, Ledford Gibson, and Edward Gibson.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at 11 a.m. in Five Corners Baptist Church, Wolcottville with Pastor Clarence Combs officiating. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery, Rome City.

Calling will be Tuesday, June 7, 2011, from 3 to 7 p.m. with an evening service at 7 p.m.

Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is in charge of arrangements.
