Obituary

Valerie Lynn Murphy, 43, of Wolcottville died Sunday, August 2, 2020, at her residence.

She was born April 15, 1977, in Kendallville to Vince and Pricey (May) Slone.

In September, 2006, she married Steven S. Murphy. He survives in Wolcottville.

She was a 1995 graduate of Lakeland High School.

Mrs. Murphy worked at Alternative Living in LaGrange.

She attended Bethel Christian Baptist Church.

Valerie loved her dogs, Benny, Bandit, and George. She also dearly loved her nieces and nephews. But, most of all, she loved to read the Bible and spread the word of Jesus.

Also surviving are her mother, Pricey Feipel of LaGrange; her father, Vince Slone of Battle Creek, Michigan; her stepfather who raised her, Mark Feipel of Rome City; two sisters, Amy (Brent) Miller of Howe and Melissa Murphy of Bronson, Michigan; a brother, Tim (Sagan) Feipel of Rome City; several half-siblings; nieces and nephews, Taylor Murphy, Tanner Murphy, Bailey Murphy, Bethany Murphy, Nicole (Nathaniel) Burkey, Ashley Miller, Chase Miller, Gage Miller, Makenna Feipel, and Noah Feipel; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Chuck and Linda Kline of Albion; and step-paternal grandparents, Larry and Mary Glass of Urbana, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by a sister, April Elaine Feipel.

Funeral services will be Thursday, August 6, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Bethel Christian Baptist Church, 2838 East Highway 6, Kendallville with Pastor John May and Pastor Shawn Shepherd officiating. Burial will follow at Woodruff Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Tyler Carbone, Michael May, Robby May, Caleb May, Tanner Murphy, Chase Miller, Zach Shepherd, and Larry Shepherd.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 5, 2020, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the church where there will be an evening service at 6 p.m. with Pastor Phil Lucas officiating. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Masks are required to be worn.

Preferred memorials may be directed to the family.

Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville is assisting the family with arrangements.
