Truman Ritchie, Sr., 89, of LaGrange, Indiana, died Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at Parkview LaGrange Hospital in LaGrange.

He was born February 3, 1934, in Ritchie, Kentucky, to Austin and Hollie (Polly) Ritchie.

On August 20, 1960, in Hindman, Kentucky, he married Deliah Ritchie. She preceded him in death on December 17, 2020.

He honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 15 years. He served during the Korean War and saw active duty in Vietnam.

Mr. Ritchie retired from the Fort Wayne Foundry.

He attended New Freedom Baptist Church in LaGrange.

Truman enjoyed University of Kentucky sports and watching Westerns. His greatest enjoyment was his grandchildren.

Surviving are a daughter, Sandra Gay (Steven) Clouse of Cromwell; two sons, Truman (Bethel) Ritchie, Jr. of LaGrange and James Douglas (Tina Marie) Ritchie of Wolcottville; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; and a brother, Benjamin Ritchie of Texas.

He was also preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.

The funeral service will be Monday, September 25, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville with Pastor Wade Sturdivant of New Freedom Baptist Church in LaGrange officiating.

Burial will be in Orange Cemetery near Rome City.

Pallbearers are Shawn McCoy, Tyler Clouse, Jacob Anderson, David Anderson, Andrew Ritchie, Zach Miller, Ryan Gaerte, and Mike Kmitta.

Honor guard services will be provided by the Veterans Honor Guard and active duty members of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Visitation is Sunday, September 24, 2023, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Preferred memorials may be directed to the family.
