Funeral services will be Monday, April 20, 2015, at 11 a.m. in the chapel at Lutheran Life Village, 351 North Allen Chapel Road, Kendallville.

Calling is Sunday, April 19, 2015, from 2 to 6 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville and one hour prior to services on Monday at Lutheran Life Village. *************************************************************************************** Tony Shepherd, 88, of Kendallville died Thursday, April 16, 2015, at 3:30 p.m. in Lutheran Life Villages, Kendallville.

He had resided in this area since 1956, coming from Kentucky.

Mr. Shepherd served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany where he was a tank driver.

He was a member of the Lutheran Church.

He retired from Max Platt Ford-Lincoln in 1989 and did auto body repair work. He previously worked for Parker Nivens, Steve West, and Gus Johnson.

Tony enjoyed being with his family and friends. He liked going out to eat for Saturday lunch at the Cracker Barrel, his favorite place. He enjoyed music and working on stereos and electronics. He also enjoyed playing Wii and participating in activities at Lutheran Life Village. He loved to tinker and fix things.

He was born February 24, 1927, in Magoffin County, Kentucky, to Rubin and Anna (Howard) Shepherd.

On April 13, 1951, in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, he married Beatrice Bailey. She preceded him in death on April 3, 1984. Then, on February 2, 2013, in Kendallville he married Joyce (Jellison) Ames. She preceded him in death on March 13, 2014.

Surviving are a son, Paul Shepherd of Avilla; a daughter, Betty (Kevin) Young of Connersville; three grandchildren, Anthony "Tony" (Christina) Young of Austin, Texas, Andrew "Andy" (Amy) Young of Indianapolis; and Adam Young of Connersville; two step children, Andrew (Kim) Ames of Kendallville and Sheila Ames of Indianapolis: one great-grandchild, Nora Young of Indianapolis; three step grandchildren, Weston Ames, Wyland Ames and Iva Mae Ames all of Kendallville; and a brother, Raymond Shepherd of Utica, Michigan.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Anthony Shepherd; and a half-brother, Franklin Howard.

Funeral services will be Monday, April 20, 2015, at 11 a.m. in the chapel at Lutheran Life Village, 351 North Allen Chapel Road, Kendallville. Burial will be in Christian Union Cemetery, Garrett.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Young, Andrew Young, Andrew Ames, Jack Shepherd, Dennis Shepherd, and Dennis Dancer.

Honor guard services will be provided by Kendallville VFW Post 2749, Rome City American Legion Post 381, and Kendallville American Legion Post 86.

Calling is Sunday, April 19, 2015, from 2 to 6 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville and one hour prior to services on Monday at Lutheran Life Village.

Preferred memorials are to Lutheran Life Village.
