Tolbert Gibson, 66, of Enterprise, Oregon, and formerly of Kendallville, Indiana, died Sunday, July 10, 2022, as the result of a car accident in Buford, Wyoming. He was born on September 14, 1955, in Kendallville to Edward and Edith Mae (Elkins) Gibson. They preceded him in death. Tolbert honorably served in the U.S. Navy from 1974 until 1978. He was a member of VFW Post 86 in Kendallville. Tolbert enjoyed playing euchre. He is survived by three sons, Edward (Jen) Charlton of Oregon, Matthew Lynn Gibson of Ohio, and Tolbert Gibson, Jr. of Indiana; six grandchildren; his companion, Mary Lynn Charlton of Oregon; three sisters, Deanna (Raleigh) Fields of Kendallville, Barbara (Homer) Ferrell of Cromwell, Mary (Troy) Rhame of Colorado; a brother, Ray Gibson of Kendallville; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Ollie Heileman, Ellen Conley, and Verna Mae Gibson; and a brother, Roy Gibson. There will be a celebration of life at a later date. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery, Rome City. Young Family Funeral Home, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is assisting the family with arrangements.
