Thomas Lee Schmidt, 76, of Kendallville, Indiana died unexpectedly Sunday, November 10, 2024, at his residence.

He was born September 1, 1948, in Auburn, Indiana to Doyle and Catherine (Buss) Schmidt.

On July 5, 1968, in Cincinnati, Ohio he married Hope Joyce Sims. She preceded him in death on June 11, 2023.

Tom had worked 20 years as a plant manager and then became a full-time farmer.

He was a dedicated Bible teacher and enjoyed seeing his family, especially his grandchildren, enjoy the family farm.

Surviving are four daughters, Becky (Brian) Hunter of South Whitley, Mindy (Brian) Mayo of Camby, Heidi (Josh) Brown of Hebron, Kentucky, and Wendy (Dan) Koors of North Manchester; 13 grandchildren, Blake, Adam, Jason, Derek, Kendra, Ayda, Isaiah, Garrett, Sam, Wyatt, Levi, Aaron, and Abby; a sister, Judy (Rob) Wren of Fort Wayne; and a brother, Jim (Wanda) Schmidt of Hudson.

He was also preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be Friday, November 15, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. at South Milford Church of Christ, 8030 E 600 S, Wolcottville, with Pastor Josh Brown officiating.

Burial will follow in Circle Cemetery in Hudson.

Visitation will also be on Friday, beginning at 12 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.
