Lehman
August 7, 1922 – February 6, 2024
Thomas O. Lehman, 101, of Wolcottville died Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Lutheran Life Villages in Kendallville.
He was born on August 7, 1922, in Berne, Indiana, to Otto and Hulda (Habegger) Lehman.
On April 15, 1945 he married Edna Loretta Amstutz. She preceded him in death on February 20, 1949. On March 28, 1954, in West Liberty, Ohio, he married Lena Kathryn Gerber. She preceded him in death on November 5, 2019.
Thomas was a member the College Mennonite Church in Goshen and the South Milford Church of Christ.
He moved to this area in 1993, coming from Goshen. He enjoyed both vegetable and flower gardening and antique tractors. His greatest enjoyment were his children and his grandchildren.
Mr. Lehman had been a farmer. He had also worked at International Harvester in Fort Wayne, a meat locker in Ohio, Kropf Factory in Goshen; also as an electrician; a cattle feed and nutrition supplement salesman; and delivered baby chicks for a hatchery in Goshen. He retired from the maintenance department at Goshen College and College Mennonite Church.
Surviving are four children, Dr. John (Sharon) Lehman of Highland, Wisconsin; Angela Hartman of Berne, Kathleen McCain of Indianapolis, and Jean (David) Patton of Wolcottville; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two half sisters, Betty VanGunten of Berne and Bonnie Breauchy of Berne.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Erna Lehman, Clorinda Yoder, Abraham Lehman, Rhoda Gerber, Eldon Lehman, Ernestine Bixler, Katharine Amstutz, Eva Lehman, and Dwight Lehman.
Memorial services will be Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 12 p.m. at the South Milford Church of Christ, 8030 E 600 S, Wolcottville with Pastor Brian Walter officiating. Private burial will be in MRE Cemetery in Berne, at a later date.
Memorial visitation is Saturday, March 2, 2024 beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
