Service: Wednesday, July 24, 2013 - 10 a.m. in Liberty Free Will Baptist Church, Wolcottville

Calling: Tuesday, July 23, 2013 - 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. in the church ************************************************************************** Thomas W. Hart, 75, of Kendallville died Sunday, July 21, 2013, at 7:45 a.m. in his residence.

He was a lifetime area resident.

Mr. Hart honorable served in the National Guard from 1956 to 1960.

He worked at Newnam Foundry, Kendallville Furniture, and retired as plant operator for the City of Kendallville Water Plant.

He was a member of Liberty Free Will Baptist Church in Wolcottville.

Tom enjoyed southern gospel music, carpentry work, mowing, gardening, and was an avid NASCAR fan. He dearly loved his grandchildren.

He was born July 17, 1938, in Kendallville. On March 31, 1957, in Kendallville, he married Charolette A. Sleeper.

Surviving are his wife Charolette A. Hart of Kendallville; a daughter, Cheryl A. (Kevin) Mertz of Columbia City; two sons, Robert D. (Vicki) Hart of Kendallville and Mark A. (Jeanne) Hart of Kendallville; six grandchildren, Sarah N. Garrison of Greensburg, Robert D. Hart, Jr. of Kendallville, Thomas W. Hart of Rochester Hills, Michigan, Adam R. Hart of Lafayette, Kyle L. Mertz of Columbia City, and Jared C. Mertz of Columbia City; three great-grandchildren, GraceCee N. Garrison, Wesley D. Garrison, and Novah R. Hart; and a sister, Mary Kneubuhler of Kendallville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester N. and Audrey I. (Itt) Hart and a sister, Vonda Thornsberry.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at 10 a.m. in Liberty Free Will Baptist Church, Wolcottville, with Pastor Terry Hinds and Pastor Billy Fields officiating. Burial will be in Brushy Chapel Cemetery, LaGrange.

Casketbearers will be Robert Hart, Jr., Adam Hart, Thomas W. Hart, Kyle Mertz, Jared Mertz, and Alan Terry.

Calling isTuesday, July 23, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. in the church where there will be an evening service at 7 p.m.

Preferred memorials are to the carpet fund at Liberty Free Will Baptist Church.

Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is assisting the family with arrangements.
