Obituary

Thelma R. Cass, 91, of Wolcottville died Thursday, April 15, 2010. at 4:45 a.m. in Parkview LaGrange Hospital, LaGrange. She had been ill two days.

Mrs. Cass retired after 24 years at Monsanto in Ligonier. She was a member of St. Gaspar Catholic Church in Rome City and the Rosary Sodality.

She was born November 28, 1918, in Avilla to Frank & Eva (Bender) Fortman. On October 25, 1939, in Avilla she married Maurice P. Cass. He preceded her in death on September 15, 1999.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Joan & Ron Bortner of Wolcottville and Pat & Max Pfafman of Kendallville; a son and daughter-in-law, Tom & Pam Cass of Elkhart; four grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Fortman and Ralph Fortman; and a sister, Esther Norton.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, April 19, 2010, at 10 a.m. in St. Gaspar Catholic Church, Rome City, with Fr. Jim Miller officiating. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery, Ligonier.

Casketbearers will be Devin Morr, Trevor Morr, Kenny Pfafman, Caleb Bortner, Sammy Bortner, Mike Bortner, Eric Borter, and John Bortner.

Calling will be Sunday, April 18, 2010, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the church with Rosary services at 3:30 p.m. There will also be calling one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Preferred memorials are masses to the church.
