Terry L. Swihart, 68, of LaGrange, Indiana, died Monday, September 25, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, Kentucky, as the result of an auto accident that occurred on September 15, 2023, in Kentucky.

He was born December 31, 1954, in Auburn, Indiana, to Harold and Julia (Shatto) Swihart.

On April 10, 1998, in LaGrange he married Joan Alberson.

Mr. Swihart retired as a truck driver for Dave Carter and Associates in Goshen.

Terry was an avid Steelers fan. He enjoyed fishing and old cars. He dearly loved his family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His family will miss him for all the funny things he said and did to make them all laugh. They will treasure and share those stories forever.

Surviving are his wife, Joan Swihart of LaGrange; their children, Jamie (Jason) Poirier of Baldwin, Michigan, Rocky Swihart of LaGrange, Amie (Nick) Kirkpatrick of Howe, Travis Swihart of Wolcottville, and Lucas Swihart of Wolcottville; 19 grandchildren, Kimberly (Donovan); Brittney (Ryan), Dakota (Allison), Tiffiney (Cody), Chelsea (Kolan), MaKenna (Cameron), Danielle (Derek), Nate (Britney), Harold "Junior", Damian (Bre), Madison (Brady), Korey (Katy), Kit, Taylor (Brandy), Octava (Trevor), Tobias, Macy, Mason, and Journey; 25 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Tina (Ron) Yoder of Warsaw, Teresa Wheeler of North Manchester, Trudy (Greg) Wilkinson of LaGrange, Ted (Joyce) Swihart of Auburn, and Thalia (Eric) Kuhns of Middlebury.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Wakanda Lee; and a sister Tammy Swihart.

Visitation is Sunday, October 1, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Five Corners Baptist Church, 2995 E 600 S, Wolcottville.

The funeral service will be Monday, October 2, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor Jim Snyder and Pastor Wade Sturdivant officiating with visitation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in LaGrange.

Pallbearers are Jason Poirier, Lucas Swihart, Rocky Swihart, Travis Swihart, Nick Kirkpatrick, Damian Brown, Brady Ferrin, and Cody Smith.

Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville is assisting the family with arrangements.
