Terry E. "Chopper" Keck, 56, of Wolcottville died Saturday, October 13, 2012, as a result of an accident while working on a truck at LLC Transport near Wolcottville.
He was a lifetime resident and a 1974 graduate of Lakeland High School.
He was a self-employed contractor.
Chopper was a proud 35-year volunteer of the Johnson Township Fire Department in Wolcottville. He was always there, ready and willing to help someone in need. He was a giant that was kind in heart and gentle in spirit, and will be missed by many.
He was born January 13, 1956, in Kendallville to Ralph Keck, Jr. and Dorothy (Suever) Keck. On March 13, 1983, in Wolcottville he married Joan E. Bloomfield.
Surviving are his wife, Joan E. Keck of Wolcottville; a son, Eric Keck and his companion, Holly Ragan of Kendallville; four grandchildren, Kinsey Keck, Dakota Keck, and Madelyn Hogue, all of Manchester, New Hampshire, and Skyler Keck of Kendallville; and three step grandchildren, Austin, Skyler, and Marissa Ragan; a brother and sister-in-law, Kerry and Shelly Keck of Wawaka; and his stepmother, Lois Turner-Keck of Rome City.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be Thursday, October 18, 2012, at 11 a.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville with Pastor Brain VanOsdol of the First Church of God in LaGrange officiating. Private burial will be at Woodland Cemetery, Wolcottville.
Pallbearers will be members of the Johnson Township Fire Department.
Calling is Wednesday, October 17, 2012, from 2 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to the Johnson Township Fire Department.
