Steven D. Fought, 72, of Wolcottville died Monday, November 21, 2016, at 9:33 a.m. in his residence. He had been diagnosed with cancer in October.
He was a lifetime area resident.
Mr. Fought honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of Rome City American Legion Post 381.
He retired as a supervisor from Liberty Homes in Syracuse.
Steve enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching his grandchildren play baseball and football. He was a diehard Chicago Bears fan, and loved four-wheeling in Kentucky.
He was born March 21, 1944, in LaGrange to Gerald and Evelyn (Wiler) Fought.
On August 25, 1979, in Topeka he married Kathy S. Smith. She survives in Wolcottville.
Also surviving are five daughters, Teresa (Don) Smith of Wolcottville, Tonya (Mike) Holcomb of Kimmell, Tracy (Stan) Wiley of Ligonier, Jae Lynne Fought of Kendallville, and Ashley Fought of Wolcottville; ten grandchildren, Stephanie Eckler, Reb ecca Eckler, Shannon Eckler, Bobbie Sue Eckler, Natasha (Michael) Handshoe, Steven Bussie, Tanner Fought, Turner Patrick, Hannah Musser, and Noah Musser; nine step-grandchildren, Zach Bussie, Erin Waggnor, Zach Smith, Kayla Smith, Megan Holcomb, Matt Holcomb, Chase Holcomb. Drew Wiley, and Daniel Wiley; 12 great-grandchildren; and three brothers-in-law, Thomas Smith of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, Douglas (Kim) Smith of San Antonio, Texas, and Ron Kruman of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Dennis Fought.
There will be no services or calling.
Burial will be in Orange Cemetery, Rome City at a later date.
