Steven Michael Clements, age 68, of LaOtto, Indiana, passed away Friday, January 23, 2026, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 23, 1957, to Ronald D. Clements and Norma J. (Goodwin) Clements in Flint, Michigan.
Steven graduated from Carmen Ainsworth Senior High School in Flint, Michigan, in 1975. He met the love of his life, Tracy R. Winegardner, and they began dating in December of 1976. The two were married on October 13, 1979. Steven and Tracy shared 49 wonderful years together, 46 of them as husband and wife.
Steven proudly served his country in the United States Army from March 1982 to May 1985 at West Point, New York, as a Military Police Officer. He later served as a Key Room Non-Commissioned Officer at the United States Disciplinary Barracks in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, from May 1985 until May 1988.
Above all else, Steven was a devoted and loving father. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family and was always present with encouragement, guidance, laughter, and unconditional love. He took great pride in raising his children, teaching them the value of hard work, kindness, and perseverance. His family was his greatest accomplishment and the joy of his life.
Throughout the years, Steven held many positions, including work in landscaping, design firms, restaurants, alarm companies, and his last place of employment was with General Motors.
Steven had many passions, including cooking, gardening, fishing, biking, triathlons, motorcycle rides, drafting, woodworking, singing around campfires, bodybuilding, and creating artwork. Above all, he treasured time with his family, who were his pride and joy. He was known for his sense of humor and his constant desire to make others laugh.
Steven was a proud and loving grandfather who cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren. He delighted in watching them grow, supporting their activities, and creating memories that will be forever held in their hearts.
Steven is survived by his wife of 46 years, Tracy R. Clements; his children: Rebekah (David) Snider of Auburn, IN; Ronald (Alaina) Clements of LaOtto, IN; Christina (Chester) Smith of Albion, IN; Hannah Tarlton (Dustin) Hamilton of Kendallville, IN; Angela (Jonathan) Cox II of Auburn, IN Tabitha Clements of Kendallville, IN; and Mason Clements, who still resides at home.
Steven is survived by 17 grandchildren: Alexa, Reed, Onnaliece, Brittlee, Sydnee, Jordan (Smith), Jordan (Snider), Brianna, Antonio, Dominic, Jonathan III, Sophia, Aleah, Keegan, Harper, Jasper, and Ezekiel.
Steven is survived by five brothers and one sister: Daniel (Marie) Clements of Fenton, MI; David Clements of Flint, MI; Timothy (Ranee) Clements of Davison, MI; Mark (Sandra) Clements of Midland, MI; Kathy (Kevin) Martus of Howell, MI; and Andy (Ahna) Clements of Hingham, MA.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Theresa Clements (2021); his parents, Ronald and Norma Clements; and his parents-in-law, Nelson and Beverly Winegardner.
Steven will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who knew him.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville.
Funeral services will Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Swan Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Chester Smith, David Snider, Jonathan Cox II, Reed Hamilton, Antonio Sarabia, Dominic Sarabia, Jonathan Cox III, and Joel Clements.
Honor guard services will be provided by the Veterans Honor Guard.
Preferred memorials are to the family or donor's choice.
