Shondria Nicole Rangel, 45, of Kendallville, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.

She was born May 2, 1978, in Fort Wayne to Jay and Charlene (Gibson) Smart. Her parents survive in Kendallville.

She was a 1997 graduate of East Noble High School.

Shondria was a mother, grandmother and friend.

Shondria loved caring for others, especially her Grandma Sharon. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren. Shondria will be remembered as a free-spirit who wanted everyone to be happy.

Also surviving are a daughter, Ema (Steevens Damas) Rangel of Terre Haute; two sons, Noe (Jessica) Rangel of Garrett and Eden (Iris) Rangel of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren, Kaison Damas, Nova Damas, Mateo Rangel, Lilliana Rangel, Katalina Rangel, Johanna Rangel, and Anna'lycee Rangel; a brother, Josh (Lacey) Smart of Kendallville; nieces and nephews, Maddison Bodenhafer, Karter Smart, and Bennett Smart; and grandparents, Lenny & Maria Phillips of Kendallville.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Sharon Gibson, John and Ruth Smart, and Reynaldo and Tomasa Rangel.

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Pastor Mike Antal officiating.

Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
