Shawn David McAtee, 52, of Avilla, Indiana, died unexpectedly on Monday, November 18, 2024, at his residence.

He was born March 10, 1972, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Rickey and Sharon (Shirey) McAtee. His father preceded him in death.

He honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Shawn enjoyed spending time with family, going for walks, and watching documentaries on television. He greatly enjoyed lively conversations with his Mom.

Surviving are his mother, Sharon McAtee of Kendallville; a daughter, Paige (Trevail Whitt) McAtee of Fort Wayne; a son, Dakota McAtee of Avilla; a stepson, Dereck Drake of Garrett; three grandchildren, Xavion McAtee, Roman McAtee, Trevail McAtee; two step grandchildren, Caveya Mims and Elise Mims; a sister, Shanna McAtee of Indianapolis; a brother, Shane McAtee of Kendallville; and his best friend, Rob Ingram of Missouri.

There will be no visitation or services.

Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is assisting the family with arrangements.
