Obituary

Sharen S. Sturgis, 75, of Wolcottville died Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at 11:35 p.m. in her residence with her family at her side.

She was a lifetime area resident.

Sharen had worked at Targgart Printing in Wolcottville and retired from Courier Printing in Kendallville.

She was a member of St. Gaspar Catholic Church in Rome City.

Sharen's grandchildren were number one in her life. She loved watching them in sporting events and all school activities. She was always there to help others! Sharen loved visiting and making friends; just loving people in general. She was very creative and artistic in life. She was a strong, independent lady that loved nature. Sharen enjoyed being outdoors doing yard work, planting flowers, observing animals, in particular, butterflies and going on boat rides at Westler Lake. Walking her daughter's dog, Rondo, was her favorite form of exercise. She was an avid IU basketball and Colts football fan.

She was born November 16, 1941, in Kendallville to Arla "P-nut" and LaDonna (Eckart) Heston.

Surviving are a son, Mike (Kira) Sturgis of Churubusco; a daughter, Nikki Barker of Westler Lake; five grandchildren, Kylie Barker, Grant Sturgis, Davis Sturgis, Ryan Barker, and Miranda Sturgis; five sisters, Sandy (Jim) North of Wolcottville, her twin, Karen (Vern) Fry of LaGrange, Vicki (Dean) Domer of Wolcottville, Toni (Kent) Kraner of Ligonier, and Terry (John) Stukey of Orland; an aunt, Dorothy Conley of Rome City; and a sister-in-law, Sara (Larry) Gotshall of Wolcottville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Calvin Sturgis; and the father of her children, Frank Sturgis.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, December 17, 2016, at 11 a.m. in St. Gaspar Catholic Church, Rome City with Fr. Bernard Ramenaden officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Wolcottville.

Calling is Friday, December 16, 2016, from 2 to 7 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville. A Rosary service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Calling will also be held Saturday, December 17, 2016, from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church.

Preferred memorials are to the American Diabetes Association.
