Sanna L.(Boxley) Harges, 75, of Sylvan Lake, Rome City died Saturday, March 5, 2016, at 9:04 p.m. in her residence with her husband at her side.
She had lived at Sylvan Lake since 1990, coming from Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Harges earned her RN from Lutheran College, bachelor's degree from IPFW, master's degree from Ball State University, and ANP from Indiana University.
Professor Emeritus Harges taught at Indiana University-Purdue University in Fort Wayne for 37 years. Sanna began her career working at hospitals in Fort Wayne and as a registered nurse in the emergency room at the University of Chicago Hospital.
She was a member of the honor society of nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI); American Nurses Association (ANA); Indiana State Nurses Association (ISNA) where she was past president of District 1; Neuman Systems Model (NSM) International Trustee Group, Inc.; and the Coalition of Advanced Practice Nurses of Indiana (CAPNI).
She was born April 3, 1940, in Fort Wayne to Ralph Boxley and Pauline H. (Saari) Bermes.
On September 4, 1965, in Fort Wayne she married Lee D. Harges. He survives at Rome City.
Also surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, David Lee Harges and Christine DeSavino of Hillsdale, New Jersey; two grandsons, Aidan and Tristan; a sister, Bea Boxley of Fishers; and a close family friend, Bill Cook of Antioch, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, David Boxley.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, March 11, 2016, at 11 a.m. in St. Gaspar Catholic Church, Rome City with Father Bernard Ramenaden officiating. Burial will be in St. Gaspar Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
Calling is Thursday, March 10, 2016, from 3 to 7 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville and one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.
Preferred memorials are to the Noble County Humane Society.
