Sandra E. "Sandy" Weimer, 82, of Kendallville, Indiana died unexpectedly Thursday, September 5, 2024, while on vacation with her family in Munising, Michigan.
She was born December 29, 1941, in Kendallville to Esta and Beatrice Pearl Herron.
On May 21, 1960, in Kendallville she married Samuel D. Weimer.
Sandy had worked at Quick Tanks in Kendallville for four years and retired from Flint and Walling in Kendallville after 32 years.
She was a member of Independent Full Gospel in Ashley.
Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Pastor Samuel D. Weimer of Kendallville; two daughters, Peggy (Rex) Miller of Kendallville and Penny (DeWayne) Leonard of Kendallville; two sons, Yogi (Beth) Weimer of Kendallville and Oscar (Cheri) Weimer of LaGrange; eight grandchildren, Thaddeus (Nicole) Bay, Duel Weimer, Jacob (Sarah) Weimer, Nathaniel Weimer, Nicole (Ryan) Brown, Shawn Leonard, Shannon Marshall, and Sondra Leonard; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley Monroe of Kendallville.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1972; her mother in 1993; sisters, Reatha Herron in 1934, Agnes Mead in 2022, and Dora Shepherd in 2023; brothers, Gerald Herron in 2010, Charles Herron in 2010, and Jim Herron in 2018.
Visitation will be Monday, September 9, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Independent Full Gospel, 1000 South Gonser Avenue, Ashley and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.
Sandy's funeral service will be Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 12 p.m. at the church with Mike Albaugh and Andrew Sexton officiating.
Burial will follow at Fairfield Cemetery in DeKalb County
Honorary pallbearer is Ty Leonard. Active pallbearers are Thaddeus Bay, Duel Weimer, Jacob Weimer, Nathaniel Weimer, Shawn Leonard, and Kellan Bay.
Preferred memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
