Sandra Sue “Sandi” Donat, 80, of Rome City, Indiana died Thursday, April 30, 2026, at DeKalb Hospital in Auburn, Indiana.
She was born on April 27, 1946, in Kendallville, Indiana, to Carey and Lois Louise (Smith) Schwab.
On June 19, 1964, in Wolcottville, she married Larry L. Donat. He preceded her in death on December 26, 2010.
She was a 1964 graduate of Wolcottville High School. She was a member of Rome City United Methodist Church and Delta Theta Tau Sorority. She built her career at the Tri-State Veterinary Clinic in Kendallville, where her commitment to the care and well-being of animals reflected her compassionate nature.
Sandi found happiness in the everyday pleasures of reading, cooking, decorating, and loving animals. Above all, nothing brought her more joy than her grandchildren, who were truly her favorite hobby and her heart’s delight.
Surviving are a daughter, Mindie Isaacs of Kendallville; two sons, Trent Donat of Sun Valley, Idaho, and Brent (Jennifer) Donat of Kendallville; five grandchildren, Dillon (Brooklyn) Donat, Darren (Isabelle Meyer) Donat, Britain Isaacs, Nolan Isaacs, and Colton Isaacs; and a sister, Martha Swartzlander of Rome City.
Funeral services will be Sunday, May 3, 2026, at 4 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville.
Visitation will also be on Sunday, beginning at 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at the funeral home.
Private family burial on Monday will be in Orange Cemetery near Rome City.
Pallbearers will be Trent Donat, Dillon Donat, Darren Donat, Britain Isaacs, Nolan Isaacs, and Colton Isaacs.
Preferred memorials are to the Noble County Humane Society, 1305 South Sherman Street, Kendallville, Indiana 46755.
