Calling: Thursday, June 20, 2013 - 2-8 p.m. in the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Friday ****************************************************************** Sandra L. "Sandy" Boyles, 70, of Rome City, died Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at 8:18 a.m. in Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne with her family at her side.
She was a lifetime area resident.
Mrs. Boyles was an LPN at the Lutheran Home in Kendallville. She retired from Uniform Printing in Kendallville.
She attended the Rome City Methodist Church. She was a members of the Rome City American Legion Post 381 Auxiliary.
Sandy enjoyed writing to soldiers when they were overseas. She loved her family and dearly enjoyed her grandchildren. She was an avid fan of East Noble and Notre Dame football.
She was born January 31, 1943, in Fort Wayne to Wayne T. Garton Sr. and Geraldine L. (Burton) Garton. On December 14, 1963, in Rome City, she married David Boyles. He preceded her in death on July 12, 2002.
Surviving are two sons, Robert W. "Rob" Boyles of Cincinnati and Todd (Heather) Boyles of Kendallville; four grandchildren, Lacy (Braiden Flinn) Boyles, Wyatt Boyles, Walker Boyles, and Weston Boyles; a sister, Kathleen Blotkamp of Orland; a stepsister, LeeAnn O'Hern of Hartford City; a stepbrother, Bill Garton of Waterloo; four sisters-in-law, Connie Garton of Rome City, Marsha Kitchen of Rome City, Donna Atwater of Howe, and Sally Boyles of LaGrange; and a brother-in-law, Darwin Boyles of Rome City.
She was also preceded in death by her father, Wayne T. Garton, Sr.; her mother, Geraldine L. Kimmerly; and a brother, Wayne Thomas "Tom" Garton, Jr.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 21, 2013, at 12 noon in Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville with Pastor Nick Hoot officiating. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery, Rome City.
Honorary pallbearers are Brian Boyles and Chris Boyles. Active pallbearers are Clayton Dilts, Nick Garton, Wyatt Boyles, Walker Boyles, Weston Boyles, and Joe Ackerman.
Calling is Thursday, June 20, 2013, from 2 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Friday.
