Samuel E. "Sam" Crossley, 71, of Kendallville, passed peacefully with his family at his side on Thursday, May 1, 2014, in his home.

Sam honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He retired as a night shift superintendant for No Sag in Kendallville where he worked for over 47 years.

He was born November 6, 1942, in Ligonier to Samuel and Sarah (McDonald) Crossley.

On June 7, 2008, in his home in Kendallville, he married Linda Mortimore.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Crossley, Kendallville; two sons, Michael (Julie) Crossley of Ligonier and Mike (Stefanie) Mortimore of Kendallville; four daughters, Jo Johnson of Kendallville , Paula (Randy) Robbins of Kendallville, Jan (Terry) Longsworth of Kendallville, and Penny Hamman of Garrett; 20 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Steve "Bub" Crossley, and a daughter, Sheryl Trowbridge.

A graveside service at Lake View Cemetery, Kendallville will be held at 11:15 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2014, with Pastor Steven Bahrt of Faith United Methodist Church in Kendallville officiating.

Pallbearers will be Ben Miller, Chris Longsworth, Derek Johnson, Roger Johnson, Tim Knox, and Mark Crossley.

Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
