Obituary

Sally B. (Brown) Babcock Harrod, 84, of Kendallville died Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at 3:05 a.m. in her residence.

She had lived in this area since 1980, coming from Fort Wayne where she was a Southside High School graduate.

She was a realtor, broker, and owner of Noble Real Estate, Inc. in Kendallville for 25 years. Prior to that, she was the office manager and corporation treasurer for The Harrod Company, Inc. in Kendallville.

Mrs. Harrod was a member of the Northeastern Indiana Association of Realtors where she served as treasurer, was past president in 1992-1993, and in 1993 was named Realtor of the Year.

She and her husband received the first life membership of the Kendallville Windmill Museum where she was the volunteer treasurer for 11 ½ years. She also received the Noble County Community Foundation Giver of Gifts Award.

Sally enjoyed downhill snow skiing which she learned from her husband, Nelson.

She was born January 15, 1932, in Warsaw to Kenneth Glenn and Geraldine M. "Geri" (Case) Brown.

On June 13, 1980, in Kendallville she married Nelson W. Harrod. He preceded her in death on December 10, 2007.

Surviving are four daughters, Linda and Robert Kunkel of Kendallville, Terri Babcock of Fort Wayne, Jean (Babcock) Hessler and Jim Hessler of Pine Knot, KY, and Diana and Brian Heil of Elkhorn, Wisconsin; six grandchildren, David Kimmell, Grant Kunkel, Kyle Locher, Matthew Kunkel, Patrick Donaldson, and Sarah Kunkel; two great-grandchildren; a step daughter, Melanie and Mike Meskel of Santa Anna, California; a stepson, Byron and Sue Harrod of Willilamsburg, Virginia; three step-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren and a half-sister, Charlene and Tom Harris of Prescott, Arizona.

She was also preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Brown; her mother, Geraldine M. "Geri" Sarber; and a half-sister, Patricia Thomas.

Funeral services will be Monday, November 21, 2016, at 1 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery, Kendallville.

Calling is Sunday, November 20, 2016, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Monday.

Preferred memorials are to the Kendallville Windmill Museum or the American Cancer Society.
