Ruth Elizabeth Tarlton, 92, of Kendallville died Monday, March 8, 2010, in Lutheran Life Villages, Kendallville.
Mrs. Tarlton retired from Taylor Made in Kendallville in 1978. She was a life member of VFW Post 2749 Auxiliary, past member of the Kendallville Moose Lodge, and attended the South Milford Church of Christ.
She was born July 6, 1917, in DeKalb County to Albert and Esther (Ladd) Schulthess. On April 27, 1974, she married Lester Tarlton. He preceded her in death in 1981.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn & Tom Mortimore of Kendallville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles & Alice Martin of Garrett, Larry & Betty Martin of Ligonier, and Kenny & Lois Martin of Kendallville; ten grandchildren, Tina Marie & Todd Reighter of Auburn, Michael Allen Martin of Auburn, Robert Foust of Kendallville, Tab & Amy Foust of Kendallville, Dawn & Don Reed of Edon, Ohio, Lori & Dave Preston of Kendallville, Christine & Robert Conrad of Ligonier, Tonia Hotchkiss of Kendallville, Tara & Gabe Norris of Albion, and Brian & Sidonia Martin of Wolcottville; three step grandchildren, Thomas & Cindy Mortimore of Huntington, Wade Mortimore of Dayton, Ohio, Kay & Mike Tuttle of Huntington; 17 great grandchildren, Jerimiah Foust, Robert Foust, Chris Elser, Michelle Keck, Raymond Reed, Spenser Reed, Holly Ort, Amanda & Rick Naatz, Nicole Preston, Kayla Preston, Samantha Preston, Jessica Conrad, Alyssa Conrad, Madalyn Hotchkiss, Ryan Hotchkiss, Lane Norris, and Owen Norris; five step great grandchildren, Ashley Mortimore, Seth Mortimore, Jade Mortimore, Samantha Tuttle, Jennifer Tuttle; four great great grandchildren, Madison Naatz, Noelani Foust, Kody Martin, and Briana Rae Reed; two step great great grandchildren, Wyatt Mortimore and Brodie Mortimore; and three nieces, Linda Gradeless of Florida, Donna Mae Longardner of Auburn, and Tammy Schulthess of California.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lisa Lash; two brothers, Don and Earl Schulthess; and a half brother, Dale Schulthess.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 11, 2010, at 11 a.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South States Street, Kendallville, with Rev. John Lutton of the Ligonier Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Auburn.
Casketbearers will be members of Kendallville VFW Post 2749.
Calling is Wednesday, March 10, 2010, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home of Fort Wayne or to VFW Post 2749 Auxiliary.
