Ruth J. Stahl, 98, of Niles, Michigan and formerly of Wolcottville, Indiana died Sunday, July 5, 2026, at her residence.

She was born April 1, 1928, in Auburn, Indiana to Richard and Mabel (Gill) Hanes.

On January 20, 1949, she married Jesse L. Stahl. He preceded her in death on September 20, 2003.

Ruth was a devoted homemaker and farmer's wife who found joy in caring for her family and home.

She loved baking, cooking, sewing, completing word searches, shopping, and taking fishing trips to Canada. Ruth especially cherished spending time with family and friends, and nothing brought her greater happiness than being with her grandchildren. She embraced life's simple pleasures and will be remembered for her warm heart, kind spirit, and the joy she found in everyday moments.

Surviving are three daughters, Betsy (Thomas) Panepucci of Niles, Michigan, LuAnn (James Freeman) Rodman of Arkansas, and Sara (John Norris) Houser of Roanoke; a son, Marty (Cathy) Stahl of Elkhart; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Ricky Stahl; three sisters, Maxine Mooney, Mary Lyons, and an infant, Betty L. Hanes; an infant brother, Raymond M. Hanes; and a half-brother, Morris Hanes.

Graveside services will be announced at a later date at Woodruff Cemetery near Wolcottville.
