Ruth V. Sayles, 92, of Kendallville died Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville.
She was born March 2, 1926, in Kendallville to Charles and Sarah (Emerick) Knott.
On June 27, 1942, in Albion she married Cecil Sayles. He preceded her in death on September 13, 1983.
Mrs. Sayles worked at Albright's Grocery in Corunna for 20 years.
Ruth was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Kendallville. She was also a volunteer at Lutheran Life Village in Kendallville for many years.
Surviving are three daughters, Ruth Ann (Melvin) Baughman of Grabill, Judy (Steve) Hutchings of Urbana, Ohio, and Peggy McDonald of Kendallville; a son, Jerry D. (Diane) Sayles of Corunna; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 12 great great-grandchildren.; and four great great great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by five sisters, Lenora Fritz, Thelma Bell, Florence Hazelton, Margaret Foote, and Berniece Becker.
Funeral services will be Monday, February 18, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Rev. Dr. Robert Shriner officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery, Kendallville.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Dennis Harter, Dewight Harter, Darren Harter, Tim Hutchings, Scott Hutchings, Brent McDonald, Todd McDonald, Andy Sayles, and Matthew Sayles.
Calling is Sunday, February 17, 2019, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
Preferred memorials are to Parkview Noble Hospice or St. John Lutheran Church.
