Obituary

Ruth M. Mountz, 79, of Kendallville died Wednesday, July 30, 2008, in Shepherd of the Hill Nursing Home, Kendallville. She had resided at the nursing home for a month.

Mrs. Mountz was raised in Garrett and had lived most of her life in Kendallville. She graduated from Garrett High School. She was a homemaker and offered child care in her home.

She was born September 7, 1928, in Garrett, Indiana, to Arthur and Orla (Derrow) Swander. On April 22, 1967, in Angola, she married Chester L. "Chet" Mountz. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2003.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Kristi and Brad Hauenstein of Bristol; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Gloria McDonald of Rome City, Michael and Deborah McDonald of Shipshewana, and Terry and Judy McDonald of Kendallville; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three sisters, Connie Handshoe of Kendallville, Carolyn Martin of Fort Wayne, and Jo Wert of Kendallville; and three brothers, Dick Swander of Fremont, Fred Swander of Albion, and Larry Swander of Albion.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be Saturday, August 2, 2008, at 1 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville, with Pastor Kevin Sneed officiating. Burial will be in Christian Union Cemetery, Garrett. Casketbearers will be Brad Hauenstein, Jeremy McDonald, Jess McDonald, Jeff McDonald, Pat McDonald, Chris McDonald, and Gary McDonald, II.

Calling is Saturday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to the American Cancer Society.
