Obituary

Russell Dion Hippenhammer, age 59, passed away peacefully at Auburn Village Nursing Home on June 20th, 2018.

He served in the U.S. Army and enjoyed spending time with family and friends above all else. Dion was preceded in death by Sheila Jones, who all considered to be his mother. He is survived by numerous family members that were closer than any simple label of Aunt, Uncle or Cousin could indicate.

Dion may not have had the traditional long list of club memberships, awards and recognized life achievements, but he is remembered. He brought many small kind touches to anyone's life that he had the chance to meet.

He volunteered for the Kendallville Fire Dept., watched WWE wrestling with anyone who was also an enthusiast, attended little league baseball games and also spent many hours watching the train crossings to ensure all was safe with the cargo and personnel. In his own unique way, he brought love, joy and protection to anyone he encountered.

Upon his request, there will be no services.

Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is assisting the family with arrangements.
