Russel Lamar Mitchener, 72, of Kendallville, Indiana, died Friday, January 13, 2023, at his son's residence surrounded by his family.

He was born April 11, 1950, in Auburn to Lamar and Wanda (Daily) Mitchener.

Russel graduated from Purdue University with an engineering degree.

Mr. Mitchener had worked as an engineer after graduation for many years with Dana at several of their locations throughout the country, he ended his working career at Rockwell/Meritor.

He enjoyed hunting and cars.

Surviving are a daughter, Brenda (Mike) Kuhn of Pleasant Lake; a son Kellen (Mandi) Mitchener of Kendallville; four grandchildren, Ariana Kuhn, Tiana Kuhn, Anthony Mitchener, and Hayden Mitchener; and two great-grandchildren, Nathan Stafford and Violet Stafford.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Celebration of Life visitation will be Friday, January 20, 2023, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville.
