Roy T. Acker, Jr, 71, of Kendallville died Monday, January 30, 2017, at 4 a.m. in his residence.
He was born July 2, 1945, in Kendallville to Roy T. Acker, Sr. and Dorothy (Winebrenner) Acker.
On April 2, 1966, in Fort Wayne he married Beverly A. Luce. She survives in Kendallville.
Mr. Acker served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1965. He was stationed in Vietnam and Germany.
He retired after 37 years from Essex in Kendallville.
Roy coached his sons in baseball and loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed collecting trains, playing games on the computer, and watching television.
Also surviving are a daughter, Danell (Trent) Mynhier of Avilla; four sons, Tim (Sharon) Acker of Kendallville, Duane (Michelle Musser) Acker of LaOtto, Mike (Ronda) Acker of Kendallville, and Josh (Gina) Acker of Fort Wayne; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Davis of Wolcottville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Linda Smith.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at 12:00 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville. Burial will be in the South Milford Cemetery.
Calling is Wednesday, February 1, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the funeral home.
